A ver si sirve este testimonio que he encontrado:

I served for 3 years aboard USS Independence, CVA-62, as an Aerographers
Mate (weatherman).  In that time we passed through 2 hurricanes in the
North Atlantic.  In both cases, we avoided the eyes of the storms, but
still experienced winds in excess of 80 mph and seas of 50+ feet.  I do
not recall any "stuff being tossed about" maybe we were better prepared.
The waves were breaking over the bow (over 60ft off the water) on both
occasions, and all gear and airplanes (about 100 of them) were stowed on
the hanger deck and double secured.  We suffered no appreciable damage
or loss of life boats, etc.  Interestingly, only 2/3 of the crew
suffered mal-de-mer; I was fortunate NOT to be in that group!  I
mentioned 80+ mph winds, because the ships anemometer was a casualty,
and as weather observer, I made the trip to the flight deck on several
occasions to record the winds.  I found I could no longer stand in over
80 mph gusts.  As far as the ship's ability to handle the weather, it
was actually fun, and we never felt in peril.  That can't be said for
the Destroyers that were following us, however.  They were completely
awash, and I wouldn't have traded places with them on a bet.
By the way, on the "03-level", all the way forward, 'the interior space
just below the flight deck', I was able to experience weightlessness as
the bow would come down off each wave, and a force of about 2-3 g's as
it went up on the next.
