 :O*  hay 3 ondas

There are three distinct tropical waves Friday afternoon. The first is along 33 west, south of 10 north and is moving westward at 10 to 15 mph. There is a moderate amount of convection on the southern end of this wave.

The second wave is near 57 west, south of 14 north and is moving west at 15 mph. There is some widely scattered convection west of the wave, mainly between 3 and 10 north.

The third wave is moving through the Western Caribbean along 67 west, south of 14 north and is moving west at 15 mph. There is little associated with this tropical wave as convection is well to the east of the axis across the Windward Islands. However, this wave could energize thunderstorms over the west and northwest Caribbean later in the weekend and early next week.

An upper trough of low pressure will enhance showers and thunderstorms across the Bahamas and central and southern Florida over the next 24. This upper-level disturbance will drift west and southwest over the next couple of days.

Wave Moving Across Eastern Atlantic

There are several features of interest in the tropical Atlantic Sunday.

An upper trough of low pressure is tracking to the west-southwest across the Florida Straits and it is causing showers and thunderstorms over Cuba. It will continue on a west-southwest course over the next day or so and should help to enhance showers and thunderstorms across the western Caribbean as it interacts with a tropical disturbance east of Nicaragua and a tropical wave currently located along 75 west and south of 15 north. Upper-level shear is running high across the western Caribbean, so any tropical development of these features will be slow over the next couple of days. Some of this moisture could track toward South Florida and more likely the Bahamas early in the week, as an upper trough sinks south down the East Coast and draws the moisture northward.

Another tropical wave is along 65 west and south of 20 north and it is moving west at 15 knots. Westerly shear aloft over this wave will keep it from developing and it is also causing convection to occur well to the east of the wave.

The most interesting looking feature is a well developed tropical wave off the African coast, a couple of hundred miles south of the Cape Verde Islands. It is located along 18 west and south of 15 north and it is moving west at around 20 knots. Waters are just about warm enough to sustain development and upper-level shear is favorable, so this feature could maintain its strength or even become better organized over the next day or two.

For the next few days at least, the Atlantic waters will continue to be void of any important tropical activity. There are only four tropical waves and an upper trough of low pressure worth taking a look at.

A new tropical wave is showing up along 16 west and south of 15 north and tracking to the west at 16 knots. All the nearby convection with this wave is in the ITCZ.

The next tropical wave is along 51 west and south of 20 north, rapidly moving west at 25 knots. This tropical wave is mostly devoid of deep convection.

A third tropical wave is along 59 west, south of 10 north, moving west around 12 knots. While there is some scattered convection associated with this wave, there remains nothing organized in the way of convection.

The forth tropical wave is in the western Caribbean along 81 west, south of 17 north, drifting west around 5 knots. It is enhancing convection across parts of Central America.

An upper trough of low pressure moving westward into the Bay of Campeche is causing showers and thunderstorms across the Yucatan Peninsula and the northwestern Caribbean. It will interact with the tropical wave currently along 81 west to produce heavy showers and thunderstorms across the northwestern Caribbean, the Yucatan Peninsula and parts of Central America over the next day or two.
