For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. A well-defined surface trough about 450 miles south southeast of Hilo Hawaii is moving toward the west near 15 mph. Although isolated thunderstorms have been occasionally developing in association with the trough, environmental conditions are not conducive for intensification. There is a low chance, 10 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.

Elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through late Tuesday night.

For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. A gale low centered about 185 miles east southeast of Midway atoll, or about 1030 miles west northwest of Lihue Hawaii, is moving toward the west at about 10 mph. Environmental conditions are not conducive for tropical cyclone development within this area, and there is a low chance, near 0 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. Even though this system does not have tropical characteristics, it has a large area of showers and thunderstorms with strong gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall which will be affecting portions of the northwest Hawaiian islands, including Midway atoll, during the next 24 hours.

Elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through late Tuesday night.
