Previsiblemente otro grande en el Pacífico.

Actualmente es categoría 3, pero se espera su intensificación hasta Categoría 5 entre mañana y el sábado. La progresión en las últimas horas ha sido brutal pasando de cat 1 a 3 en 6 horas

Typhoon (TY) 20w (Melor) located approximately 445 nm east of Guam,
has tracked west-northwestward at 09 knots over the past six hours.
TY 20w has undergone a period of rapid intensification since the
last warning, increasing in intensity by 40 knots, reaching its
current intensity of 105 knots. The system is currently tracking on
the southern periphery of the sub-tropical ridge (str) to the north.
The system is forecast to track westward to west-northwestward
through tau 96, crossing the northern marianas islands north of
Saipan near tau 48 as a super typhoon. In the extended period (after
tau 96), the system is forecast to take a more northwestward track
as an approaching midlatitude trough weakens the westward extension
of the str, allowing recurvature to begin. Although the forecast for
TY 20w is not subject to the same uncertainties as the forecast for
sty 19w to the west, as TY 20w remains firmly under the steering
influence of the str to the northeast. The proximity of the two
cyclones (less than 1000 nm separation at tau 120) introduces some
uncertainty into the track forecast at tau 120 and beyond. Maximum
significant wave height at 010600z is 23 feet. Next warnings at
011500z, 012100z, 020300z and 020900z. Refer to tropical cyclone 19w
(parma) warnings (wtpn33 pgtw) for six-hourly updates.//

Desde ayer día 4 MELOR es un Supertifón Categoría 5. Es increible la evolución de este sistema.  :o

Super Typhoon (STY) 20w (Melor), located approximately 585 nm
southeast of Okinawa, has tracked west-northwestward at 16 knots
over the past six hours. Dvorak fixes from pgtw and rjtd indicate
that the system is still of super typhoon classification at 140
knots. There are no significant changes from the previous forecast.
After passing to the east of Okinawa the system is expected to turn
towards the northeast under the influence of 35 to 50 knot
westerlies aloft (confirmed by a 050000z skew-T sounding from
okinawa). The system will slowly weaken as a tropical system due to
increased vertical wind shear and lower ocean heat content. South of
Tokyo the system will begin to interact with a baroclinic boundary,
weaken further, and gain extratropical characteristics. The system
will be fully extratropical, and embedded within the mid-latitude
flow, by tau 96. Maximum significant wave height at 050600z is 41
feet. Next warnings at 051500z, 052100z, 060300z and 060900z. Refer
to tropical storm 19w (parma) warnings (wtpn33 pgtw) for six-hourly
updates.//

Tenemos a este tifón olvidadillo, y resulta que podría afectar a Japón............... Al menos los modelos meteorológicos llevan su centro a pasar muy cerquita de su costa sur...

Y ésta última imagen es la más reciente del canal visible :-X :-X :-X :-X Se nota que la cizalladura está destruyendo el tifón, pero aún mantiene mucha fuerza!

En ellos se observa que está cascando de lo lindo! Hay varias prefecturas en donde las lluvias son superiores a los 80 mm/h :o :o :o :o

Adjunto un vídeo muy bueno en donde se ve al tifón realizando un ciclo de reemplazamiento del ojo, del 5 al 6 de octubre ;)

los restos de Melor han llegado a california todavia con vientos de fuerza de tormenta tropical y bastante precipitaciones en N california

al final los restos de Melor ha ayudado a combatir la mayor sequia de esta region de california en los últimos 50 años con records de lluvia caido
