Filipinas se prepara para la llegada del tifón (REUTERS).

* Se prevé que toque tierra por primera vez en la madrugada del sábado.
El tifón Mitag sigue aproximándose con cada vez mayor fuerza a Filipinas, donde la región de Bicol, al sureste de Luzón, ya comenzó a sentir sus efectos en forma de riadas que anegaron varios pueblos en la provincia de Catanduanes.
Las autoridades de Albay, en Bicol, declararon hoy el lugar zona de desastre ante las primeras lluvias ocasionadas por el tifón en la provincia, donde 68.000 personas fueron evacuadas ya a centros de acogida, indicó a los medios locales el gobernador, Joey Salceda.
En Catanduanes, provincia insular a 40 kilómetros del extremo sureste de Luzón, al menos cinco ciudades quedaron totalmente aisladas y la mayoría de las carreteras están totalmente inundadas, según fuentes oficiales.
Puede pasar a supertifón
Unas 300 familias han sido evacuadas de esta zona, la primera donde se espera que aterrice Mitag, conocido en Filipinas como "Mina", y que a las 05.00 hora local (21.00 GMT) estaba ya a 220 kilómetros de Catanduanes, con vientos sostenidos de 160 kilómetros por hora y rachas de 195, señaló la Administración de Servicios Atmosféricos, Geofísicos y Astronómicos (Pagasa).
No se descarta todavía que en las próximas 24 horas se transforme en un "supertifón", con vendavales superiores a los 220 kilómetros por hora.
Según el último pronóstico de Pagasa, el tifón se mueve en dirección este-noreste a una velocidad de 15 kilómetros por hora, y se prevé que toque tierra por primera vez en la madrugada del sábado.
