Storms in Serbia - 16.6.2010.
« en: Junio 17, 2010, 00:44:18 am »
Buenas noches desde Belgrado.

16.6.2010. was stormy in Serbia. Hail, severe wind gusts and heavy showers hit parts of Serbia. Uprooted trees, destroyed crops and roofs, some towns and villages stayed without electricity.
According to RTS (Serbian radio television) the greatest damages suffered municipalities of Sabac, Valjevo, Lajkovac. In Belgrade, wind blowed part of the roof of Music faculty.

Most part of the day i spent at my village Gornja Tresnjevica, near Arandjelovac.

My position (red dot)

First developments start around 13.20h. This Cb becomes stronger...

But in this period seems like it will dissapear. I couldn't hear thunders any more, but i can hear firing of AgI rockets.

I can hear thunders again.

And finally...

Around 14.40h:

Hail (my cousins are models :) )

My friend from Belgrade sent me SMS about possible supercell moving from Valjevo toward Arandjelovac.
I see the anvil

Its closer and closer.

Shelf at 16.10h

Sky is darker. The strongest part of Cb missed me, i just have shower and couple of strong to severe wind gusts

Aranđelovac after shower.

I came in Belgrade which was hit by another storm. Precip was 23mm in 15 mins. Flooded highway.

Radar animation Bilogora, Fruska Gora, Bajsa

I'm waiting for hail reports. I hope they will post some good RHI :)

Saludos!

One print screen from rts.rs news "Posledice nevremena".

Village Popucke near Valjevo:

Video of damages in Valhevo municipality you can watch here

http://www.rts.rs/page/stories/sr/story/125/Društvo/725078/Posledice+nevremena

First reports of our hail supression system says next:

Teritory of radar center Valjevo:

Valjevo municipality: damages on crops 20-50% on 300ha.
Sabac municipality: damages on crops 5-20% on 50ha.
Mionica municipality: damages on crops 50-100% on 150ha.
Loznica municipality: damages on crops 10-100% on 500ha.
Bogatic municipality: damages on crops 10-100% on 2300ha.

I'm waiting for reports of other radar centers.

GFS suggest that new severe storms are possible tomorrow here.

You're welcome Pedro  ;) I read noticia, and i agree that some damages looks like tornado or maybee gustnado. Unfortunately, no one is reported officially.

I promised couple of RHI's but only radar center who provide RHI's for yesterday was RC Crni Vrh (E Serbia).

So this is RHI of cloud ENE of RC Crni Vrh. Possible damages of hail reported in this area.

And PPI of same cloud

Hmmmmmmm.... I can't see Bounded Weak Echo Region (BWER), as it is called REDA (Región de Eco Débil Acotada) in Spanish. This feature is seen in supercell and multicell structures. Nevertheless, a vertical pronounced strong echo region is seen in the first imagen. It could be indentified as a strong updraft and deep convection. Perhaps the storm showed a BWER in other stages of its life, but not in that moment.

The second imagen give us more data: strong echoes sustained to a high altitude confirm a strong updraft and deep convection = severe thunderstorm.
