ATLANTIC OCEAN - NASA's Aqua satellite captured an infrared look at Tropical Storm Chantal's clouds today and saw strong thunderstorms around the center (purple) with cold cloud top temperatures of more than -63F/-52C. At 2 p.m. EDT Chantal had maximum sustained winds near 45 mph (75 kph) and was moving to the west-northwest at 25 mph (41 kph). Minimum central pressure was 1005 millibars. Chantal is located near 11.3 north and 52.8 west, about 470 miles (760 km) east-southeast of Barbados. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbado, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Martinique, and Guadeloupe, and a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Saint Vincent.
